Zendaya will voice Lola Bunny in Space Jam: A New Legacy. The news spread like wildfire back in April via Entertainment Weekly. The film’s new ad is sponsored by ESPN’s 30-for-30 presentation titled The Bunny & The GOAT. Malcolm D. Lee, the movie’s director, recently stated that Zendaya’s influence would hinder the overly sensualized depiction of Lola and instead reflect the authenticity of strong, capable female characters.
Once a clip of Zendaya vocalizing lines for the cartoon character was released, it received mixed feedback from fans. A fan on Twitter said:
“I hope this isn’t the final result because the mixing is def off. Also, her voice needs more personality. She always sounds like it. Don’t disappoint me Zendaya.”
Space Jam: A New Legacy will hit big screens and HBO Max on July 16, 2021.
