At midnight on Friday, Megan Thee Stallion released yet another iconic single “Don’t Stop” featuring Young Thug. The music video features heavy Alice in Wonderland themes (except for Young Thug, who cosplays as Edward Scissorhands). The visual serves as an astounding follow-up to the Houston Hottie’s recent collaboration with Cardi B on “WAP,” where they transformed a mansion into bad bitch paradise.
“Don’t Stop” is utterly energetic and boldly unapologetic. Produced by Buddah Bless, the track is composed of high-pitched glitches contrasted by hard-hitting percussion, and Meg’s signature smooth bars. If there is one thing we can be sure of it is that Megan is not afraid of trying new sounds and effortlessly fusing them with hip-hop. Such as on “Girls in the Hood,” where we got a taste of Megan the Rockstar, “Don’t Stop,” is giving Brittany Spears‘ “Toxic” meets Nicki Minaj’s “Beez in the Trap.”
However, the visual is truly the icing on the cake. The video was directed by Collin Tilley, the same creative behind “WAP.” From The Queen of Hearts, to the Cheshire Cat every single look was a major serve! Here are some of my favorite moments:
With the song, Meg announced that she has a new studio album on the way this fall, but hasn’t shared further details. “Don’t Stop” joins a plethora of singles from Meg this year, following “Girls in the Hood” and Beyoncé’s remix of “Savage.”
