Nearly three decades since making his Hollywood debut on television,Jared Leto has established quite the career for himself. Since then, Leto has amassed 41 acting credits thus far while also releasing several albums as lead singer of the successful band Thirty Seconds to Mars alongside older brother Shannon Leto. Leto has certainly established himself as a mainstay of Hollywood culture, with one of his more recent jobs seeing him casted as The Joker, the notorious villain from the Batman universe, in 2016’s Suicide Squad film. Now, the actor-musician is seemingly eyeing a potential return to platform as he is rumored to be in discussions with Apple to star in the Apple TV+ series WeCrashed.
Though not his first time appearing on television, the role which garnered him the most fame came in 1995 when Leto appeared in 19 episodes of the ABC television series My So-Called Life. While the casting as an angsty teenager was befitting for the young Leto at the time, this new role would seemingly be a stark departure from that as he would be casted to play the role of disgraced WeWork CEO Adam Neumann. As CEO of the real estate firm, Neumann was ousted from his position and forced to sever ties with the company amidst controversy ranging from drug abuse to sexual harassment that ultimately set the company down a path of turmoil. The inspiration for the series comes from the popular podcast by the same name hosted by journalist David Brown regarding Neumann and the meteoric rise and fall of the company in such a short timeframe.
Despite being tied to a number of high-profile projects currently in production, Leto does not appear to be taking his foot off the gas. After a quarter of a century since his role on My So-Called Life, Leto is looking to team up with tech-behemoth Apple as they begin the process of developing original content for their Apple TV+ platform. While this makes sense for both Leto and Apple as the demand for on-demand streaming content is greater than ever in the midst of quarantine, one has to worry if the actor is biting off more than he can chew with a reprisal of his role as The Joker along with a number of other projects currently in production. Given his tenure and level of success he has achieved in Hollywood over the past three decades however, Leto seems to be well equipped to handle the workload. While it is still only part of the Hollywood rumor mill, Apple is sure to act fast in their pursuit to produce original content, and Leto is already positioned to take full advantage of this pursuit.
