A few years ago the beloved sitcom How I Met Your Mother aired its final episode after nine successful seasons. The series starring Cobie Smulders and Neil Patrick Harris was revered for its comedic ingenuity and managed to run for an impressive 208 episodes, no small feat for any television show. Understandably so, fans were left disappointed once How I Met Your Mother had run its course and they could no longer look forward to new episodes every week. Those fans might have something to look forward to in a new project that is currently at work rounding out its cast to begin filming: Hulu has begun casting on a new How I Met Your Mother spinoff series it is producing aptly titled How I Met Your Father.
When How I Met Your Mother ended in 2014, it left a huge gap in the lives of its adoring fanbase despite providing them with countless classic episodes they could rewatch over and over. Though that was 7 years ago now, HIMYM, the acronym commonly associated with the series, continues to live on as a classic sitcom that will continue to age like fine wine. Now though, it looks like the series’ original universe will be expanding a little bit with a new project in production over at Hulu, How I Met Your Father. The series was created by This is Us Executive Producers Elizabeth Berger and Isaac Aptaker andd so far they have cast Chris Lowell, recently appearing in 2020’s Promising Young Woman, and Hillary Duff, best known for her work as a teen starring in the Disney series Lizzie McGuire. The series is also seemingly in good hands with HIMYM creators Carter Bays and Craigh Thomas signed up to be executive producers.
This project certainly sounds like an interesting affair. A spinoff series based upon an absolutely adored series backed by talented actors and successful producers? Not to mention, though the series will not be directly related to its predecessors it is expected that characters will fall into similar roles and the same brand of humor will be subsequently employed. Fans of the series are sure to be interested, and more than likely some new fans will be too; stay on the lookout for further updates about Hulu’s upcoming project How I Met Your Father.
