Despite their heinous crimes, serial killers remain at the forefront of popular culture as many continue to ask: what could drive these individuals to do such twisted things? That question has been the subject of exploration in countless films in an attempt to shed light on the darkness that exists in human society and potentially stop it once and for all. As that goal has not been achieved yet, Hollywood continues to explore the topic and has a new film in production that is sure to catch the attention of moviegoers around the globe. The horrendous crimes of serial killer Ted Bundy are set to be revisited once again in the new film No Man of God starring Elijah Wood and Luke Kirby as they attempt to shed light on what drove Bundy to become a killer.
Some may remember the Netflix project Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile starring Zac Efron as Bundy that released in 2019, a huge success for the streaming platform and well-received by countless fans when it was released. The end of that project saw the infamous murderer in jail for his crimes, bringing an end to a reign of terror that spanned the 1960s and 70s and resulted in dozens of victims. Now this reign of terror will be revisited in No Man of God, a new film that attempts to explore the psyche of one of the most notorious killers in American History. Kirby will star as Bundy, already in jail for his crimes at the time of the film, and Wood will play Bill Hagmaier, the FBI agent who Bundy ultimately confessed his crimes to. The project is being directed by Amber Sealey with Kit Lesser penning the script, and is set to hit theaters on August 27th. The first official trailer can be seen below, highlighting a rather erie yet intriguing interaction as these two men engage in a mental joust to get to the bottom of Bundy’s killer tendencies.
Even after almost 50 years since his reign of terror ended, Ted Bundy remains at the forefront of popular culture for all the wrong reasons. It is difficult to imagine so much evil inside of one person, however anyone who is familiar with Bundy understands the reality and graveness of his crimes. Let’s hope the project being produced by SpectreFilm can finally illuminate the darkness and bring answers to the countless questions raised by Ted Bundy’s depravity. Moviegoers can expect to see No Man of God in theaters in the coming weeks when it debuts at the end of August.
