Drake has revealed plans for a tour that’s set to coincide with Kendrick Lamar‘s performance at the Super Bowl halftime show. During xQc’s livestream on Sunday, the rap-singer shared that his Anita Max Wynn Tour is scheduled for February 9, 2025.
This Australian tour will kick off on the same day as Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans. Following Kendrick’s announcement as the halftime performer—much to the disappointment of Lil Wayne, who had expressed his desire to represent his hometown during the show—the halftime event has become a hot topic on social media. Kendrick will take the stage after Lil Wayne’s hopes to perform were overlooked.
The hip-hop icon teamed up with Queen of Rap Nicki Minaj and Birdman to tease NFL Super Bowl ambassador Jay-Z following Weezy’s missed opportunity to perform. In response, K-Dot addressed Wayne’s remarks about the Super Bowl in the introduction of “wacced out murals.”
The music smack down between 2 legendary artist!
Last spring, Lamar stirred controversy by dropping three diss tracks, including the fierce “Not Like Us,” where he aimed criticism at Drake throughout his surprise album. More recently, Drake made a nod to a line from Kendrick’s song “Euphoria” while reacting to streamer Pokimane‘s opinions about him.
In a lighthearted moment during the stream, Drake made a comment asking, “Is it the braids?”
The recent tour announcements come on the heels of Drizzy’s reflections regarding Kendrick Lamar’s latest album and the present landscape of hip-hop.
During his time on xQc’s livestream The 6 God declared, “I’m right here, as you can clearly see, completely whole—mind, body, and spirit. Just in case you’re curious, you’ll need solid evidence to take me down; mere fairy tales just won’t suffice.”
He continued: “The state of rap music is pretty strange these days.”
Additionally, Drizzy mentioned that he would prohibit the streaming of The Weeknd‘s music during the broadcast.
Over the past five years, Drizzy has maintained a relentless touring schedule. Reports suggest that the NFL approached him on three occasions to headline the Super Bowl halftime show, but he chose to turn down the offers. With a discography that includes eight studio albums, he has ascended to the title of the most-streamed artist in the rap genre. Currently, he is gearing up to release a collaborative album with PartyNextDoor, which is anticipated to drop this fall. Earlier this year, in 2023, he unveiled his most recent solo project, titled For All The Dogs.
