When most artists hit a party, they hit the dance floor. But Drake? He’s in the other room with a plate of pasta and a pair of wired headphones, writing bars while the world turns up without him. That’s the energy fueling his next solo album—and if OVO affiliate Smiley is to be believed, we’re in for something serious.
From Parties To Pasta And Pro Tools
During a recent livestream, Smiley painted a vivid picture of Drake’s current creative zone. “We were at a party, and he was in the other room by himself, eating pasta… with the wired headphones, writing music” he said. Forget VIP lounges and Instagram stories—Drizzy is deep in grind mode, fine-tuning what might be his most personal project in years.
Even on set for the cinematic “NOKIA” video shoot, Drake didn’t waste a second. “He had a bunch of producers, and he just recorded, he’s in that crazy mode right now” Smiley added. Drake later posted the clip on his Instagram Stories, co-signing the claim with quiet confidence. And that’s when the culture listened up.
“Drizzy Drake Alone”: The One-on-One We’ve Been Waiting For
Drake confirmed the upcoming album during a livestream last month: “Working on a new album right now… it slaps”. When asked if it would be solo, he didn’t hesitate—“Yeah”.
This isn’t just another playlist of hits. In fact, it’s a one-on-one conversation, according to Drake himself, who first teased the new direction during his Australia tour. “Eventually, when the moment is right, Drizzy Drake alone will need to have a one-on-one discussion with you all. I hope you perceive my honesty as clarity rather than charity” he told fans. Cryptic? Yes. But that’s Drake at his best: introspective, layered, and always two steps ahead.
With that being said, the new album will mark his first solo release since 2023’s For All The Dogs and follows February’s 21-track collab project with PartyNextDoor, $ome $exy $ongs 4 U.
What’s Next? Smiley x Drake Return
Smiley also dropped another gem during his livestream: a new collab with Drake is coming—and it’s the lead single on Smiley’s next album. The duo’s last joint effort, “Over the Top,” dropped in 2021. If history’s any indicator, this one’s about to heat up the summer.
Nonetheless, Drake’s not here for distractions. He’s here to talk directly to the people. And whether he’s eating pasta alone at a party or turning video sets into recording sessions, one thing’s clear—Drake is in album mode.
