Mark Wahlberg & Michelle Monaghan Are Back In Action As Apple TV Drops ‘The Family Plan 2’ Trailer

The holidays are officially here—and with them comes the perfect excuse to curl up, indulge in comfort food, and dive into a marathon of festive films. While classics like It’s a Wonderful Life and National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation will always hold their place in the seasonal lineup, Apple TV is offering viewers something refreshingly new for 2025! Mark Wahlberg and Michelle Monaghan return in the action-comedy sequel The Family Plan 2, premiering November 21st.

Directed once again by Simon Cellan-Jones, the film picks up with the Morgan family two years after the original hit. This time, the holidays take the clan across the pond, where a simple family visit spirals into an international misadventure packed with laughs, heart, and high-octane action.

A Reunion Abroad… With A Side Of Chaos

In an exclusive sneak peek, we catch up with the Morgans the moment they touch down in Europe—and things unravel instantly. After a long flight, middle child Kyle played by Van Crosby has one mission: locate the nearest bathroom. In true sibling fashion, he barrels past his older sister Nina played by Zoe Colletti, barely acknowledging her as she hesitantly greets the family decked in nothing but a shower robe.

The surprise gets bigger—and far more awkward—when Nina’s boyfriend Omar (Reda Elazouar) strolls out of the shower. He’s eager to meet the family. Dan (Wahlberg)? Not so much. Jessica (Monaghan), meanwhile, is a little too enthusiastic, something Kyle hilariously points out.

Still, Omar won’t have much time to feel out the family dynamic. This is because the Morgan clan’s holiday reunion is about to take a hard left turn into a full-blown action spectacle.

Enter Kit Harington

Adding a major jolt of star power, Game of Thrones alum Kit Harington joins the franchise as Aidan, a mysterious figure from Dan’s past with unfinished business. This role marks one of Harington’s most thrilling pivots yet, and from the early footage, he slips into his villain era with ease.

As tensions escalate between Dan and Aidan, the entire Morgan household gets thrown headfirst into the unfolding chaos—turning their European holiday into anything but a relaxing getaway.

A Family Affair On and Off Screen

Rounding out the cast are Peter Lindsey and Theodore Lindsey, reprising their roles as the youngest Morgan siblings. The sequel also welcomes back David Coggeshall, who penned the original screenplay, ensuring the same heartfelt humor and signature action beats fans loved the first time around.

The Family Plan 2 also marks the third collaboration between Wahlberg and director Simon Cellan-Jones, following their work on the first film and 2024’s inspiring adventure Arthur the King. Together, they’ve built a reliable chemistry that blends family-friendly storytelling with edge-of-your-seat action.

A Holiday Adventure Worth Adding To Your Watchlist

With its blend of comedy, chaos, and family heart, The Family Plan 2 is shaping up to be the perfect addition to your holiday streaming lineup. Whether you’re watching for the Morgan family’s antics, Kit Harington’s villainous turn, or the promise of a feel-good adventure with global stakes, this sequel is ready to deliver. Catch the exclusive sneak peek above and don’t miss The Family Plan 2 when it arrives on Apple TV on November 21st.
