Coachella will now take place during the weekends of October 9th-11th and 16th-18th due to ongoing Corona Virus concerns, and will still take place at its usual home, the Empire Polo Club, in Indio, California.
Goldenvoice, the producer of Coachella, states that “At the direction of the County of Riverside and local health authorities, we must sadly confirm the rescheduling of Coachella and Stagecoach due to COVID-19 concerns. While this decision comes at a time of universal uncertainty, we take the safety and health of our guests, staff and community very seriously. We urge everyone to follow the guidelines and protocols put forth by public health officials.”
Postponing the massive festival series until October is no easy task. Doing so will require involving hundreds of artists and their representatives, as well as hundreds of contractors and vendors and tens of thousands of employees. As of now there is no guarantee that the artists on the original line up will even be available for these dates. Artists typically tour all throughout the fall months, and while organizers aren’t likely to get all the performers to agree to participate, if enough of the big headline acts sign on then the festival can be moved. This year’s Coachella headliners include Frank Ocean, Rage Against the Machine and Travis Scott.
So, before you put away your flower crowns, and beautifully complex D.I.Y outfits all tickets for the festivals’ original April dates will be honored for the rescheduled October dates. Furthermore, ticket-holders who are unable to attend can request a full refund.
