Rovio Entertainment’s smash video game franchise, Angry Birds, did numbers for its two films in the box office. The Angry Birds Movie amassed 352.3 million USD, whereas The Angry Birds Movie 2 earned 154.6 million USD. Since the movies were successful, Netflix decided to start a series adaptation, according to Deadline.
The show’s name will be Angry Birds: Summer Madness. The 40-episode series of 11-minute installments will see the trio alongside a cast of tween birds at summer camp. They’ll be guided by counselor Mighty Eagle, who leads them on all twists and turns.
“Angry Birds have been a true phenomenon for kids around the world, and we’re excited to bring them home to the nest at Netflix where they will be angrier and bird-ier than ever,” Curtis Lelash, Director of Original Animated Series, Netflix said.
Angry Birds: Summer Madness will hit small screens sometime in 2021.
