Beyonce and Jay-Z‘s daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, is being recognized for her voice-over work for Hair Love by Matthew A. Cherry. The audiobook Hair Love explores the bond between an African American father, daughter, and their hair. This book symbolizes a lack of Black representation in commercial media. The goal for Cherry is to give others a strong love for their natural roots.
Carter recently received an award for her vocal efforts at the Voice Arts Awards. She was given the Best Voiceover title. This accolade follows her Grammy award for Best Music Video in March. Her grandmother, Tina Lawson, expressed her delight via Instagram.
“Congrats, my Blue,” she penned under a picture of Blue Ivy. “You killed this!!! It’s only the beginning! You are so talented! Grandma is beyond proud.”
She’s received other awards in the past for co-writing “Brown Skin Girl” with her mother. Because of Blue’s collaboration, Beyonce earned the BET Her Award, Outstanding Duo, Group, or Collaboration Award at the NAACP Awards.
