Lidiya Jewett is set to star in Blumhouse’s upcoming horror film, The Exorcist. Jewett is known for her roles in Nightbooks and the show Good Girls.
The Exorcist will premiere in theaters on October 13th. According to ComingSoon, it’ll be a sequel to the original movie, inspired by William Peter Blatty’s novel.
Jewett will act alongside Leslie Odom Jr. and Ann Dowd. Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role as Chris MacNeil. She played in the first film over 40 years ago. In turn, Burstyn earned an Oscar nomination for Best Actress. There’s no information on Jewett’s role in the newest installment.
The first Exorcist film was about a demon who suddenly possessed a 12-year-old girl named Regan after she used an old Ouija board. Two Roman Catholic priests come together to conduct an exorcism on Regan so that she can be redeemed once and for all. The Exorcist will be produced by Jason Blum, David Robinson, and James Robinson. Halloween’s director, David Gordon Green, will also be producing.
