Earlier today, Kevin Feige confirmed that Deadpool 3 will be the first film R-Rated film to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe. During a press conference for Wandavision with Collider, the president of Marvel Studios said that Ryan Reynolds is currently overseeing the writing of the script with writers Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Wendy Molyneux.
“It will not be [filming] this year. Ryan is a very busy, very successful actor. We’ve got a number of things we’ve already announced that we now have to make, but it’s exciting for it to have begun. Again, a very different type of character in the MCU, and Ryan is a force of nature, which is just awesome to see him bring that character to life.”
Filming will not begin until 2022 with a variety of projects already under MCU’s belt such as Thor 4, Spider-Man 3, Doctor Strange 2, Black Panther 2 and Captain Marvel 2. The movie most likely won’t be hitting theaters until the year 2023 at the earliest.
