The Hindu reports that Deadpool & Wolverine has completely skyrocketed in theaters and is now the highest R-rated film in history. Since its release on July 26, the movies’ numbers at the box office have raked in at an impressive $1.086 billion globally. In under a month, Deadpool & Wolverine surpassed the 2019 film Joker, which earned $1.078 billion at the box office. Deadpool & Wolverine features the incredible Ryan Reynolds alongside his partner in crime, Hugh Jackman.
According to Variety, the movie has already reached $516 million in North America and is on track to hit $568 million internationally soon. More recently, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned $211 million domestically over the weekend.
Kevin Feige expressed his thoughts on the movie’s success, stating, “Thank you for making Marvel Studios‘ first R-rated film biggest of all time.”
He continued: “It’s amazing to see how much audiences are enjoying this movie, just as we enjoyed making it. All those discussions paid off!”
Even the legendary singer Taylor Swift praised the film during its opening weekend. She expressed her appreciation by calling it an “abs sandwich” and celebrated it as “Reynolds’ best work of his life and an actual joy portal.” Additionally, Jackman shared his excitement about coming out of retirement to be part of this project. He mentioned that after watching Deadpool for the first time, he could see Wolverine returning for a comedic duo.
