Disney is touching almost every animated classic in their reboot season. The studio is currently at 14 live-action adaptations, the lastest being 1985’s Lady and the Tramp and next on slate is Mulan (March 7). Disney’s eyes are now on Margot Robbie for Peter Pans tinker bell.
Dipping deeper into the Neverlands Walt Disney Studios twinkles nostalgia with talks for another live-action Peter Pan adaptation. TheIlluminerdi reports exclusively of an offer from Disney to The Birds of Prey star Margot Robbie for the role of Tinker Bell. As yet, there hasn’t been any further communiqué confirming whether Robbie has responded to the studios offer or not. But let’s expand on some the details we do know regarding the fantasy film.
The upcoming live-actions adaption is titled Peter and Wendy taking on novelist James Mathew Barrie’s 1904 play and 1911 novel. The story of a boy who wouldn’t grow up took forms of a silent film in 1924 and then became an animated film by Disney in 1953, having its first live-action adaption in 2003.
Illuminerdi shared the newest breakdown for Tinkerbells 2020’s reboot:
Peter’s partner-in-crime and voice of reason with the voice of a million tiny bells, Tink helps the Darlings avoid danger during their Neverland adventure. When Peter, the Darlings, and/or the Lost Boys are in trouble, she uses her magical powers to save the day.
The breakdown doesn’t steer too far away from the Tinky we’ve seen in previous Peter Pan narratives…there’s just no mentions of her feisty personality. But without tude there is no Tink so I’m sure that’s a trait they’re not plannning to revise on.
In 2003 Ludivine Sagnier starred as Tinker Bell and earlier rumors circulated the idea of Reese Witherspoon filling the female character. Margot Robbies name is now in mix of pixie dust, which could spark the interest engine. Margot Robbie is one of the hottest names in Hollywood at the moment, the demand for her talent raising amongst the studios. She was last seen in last year’s critically acclaimed film Bombshell and in Quentin Tarantinos Once Upon A Time Hollywood which totaled at least 7 awards this year. Up next, Robbie will be seen in DC’s Birds of Prey, reprises her role as Harley Quinn from 2016’s Suicide Squad, lending her voice to Peter Rabbit 2 and coming back to Suicide Squad in 2021.
Peter Pan and Wendy is set to begin production this April in Vancouver, Canada and is expected to wrap in late-August.
