The Friday the 13th franchise is looking to expand into the multi-universe for Jason Voorhees. The 1980s original film that began with campers being visited by the hockey mask man in the woods. The urban legend had campers terrified after the movie was released. Nonetheless, the franchise is marketing a different approach as they will promote Jason Voorhees as a brand. The expansions will conclude merch, series, movies, and more.
This new venture will appear on Peacock and will serve as a sequel to push the story that is used in comics, films, and several video games. IGN has announced their plans for the franchise as they recently brought on the original screenwriter Victor Miller and producer Marc Toberoff to create new projects. There is no clarification of the expansions as viewers have not received information if movies and shows are the priority of this move. It has been over a decade since we witnessed a live action Voorhees. This venture might create more opportunities and see similar approaches from other horror franchises.
