In the modern era of television, streaming has come to redefine the means by which new series are released dramatically. With services like Netflix and Hulu now providing subscribers with content at the click of a button, the concept of a television series that releases new episodes on a weekly basis seems somewhat outlandish. While the format hasn’t disappeared entirely, more and more of these series and new series are instead transitioning to streaming services which allows viewers to binge an entire season in one sitting and have come to completely overturn our concept of television series. Many of the classic series which were conceived well before the inception of streaming are still revered today however given the way in which they entertained audiences and the integral role they play in TV history. Funny enough, now a documentary honoring and exploring the career of one of television’s most important architects is set to release on one of the biggest streaming services next month in HBO’s The Larry David Story, with the official trailer for the project being released earlier this week.
Larry David has been an integral piece of television’s DNA for the past 40 years. He began his career as a writer 1980 on the series Fridays where he lasted for 54 episodes, then also writing for Saturday Night Live for a year. He worked on a few other projects over the next few years but would strike gold in 1989 when he would help create, direct and produce the classic NBC comedy series Seinfeld which ran for nine years and 180 episodes before deciding to pack it all up before things got stale. He then went on to create another classic series two years later in 2000 with HBO’s hit series Curb Your Enthusiasm which you can still find on television today as fans are currently awaiting the twelfth season. Fans of either series are quick to sing David’s praise given how much of a force he’s been in television for over four decades now and he has become nothing short of a legend as a result. Now he will be honored and his lengthy career delved deeper into in The Larry David Story, HBO’s official documentary based upon the esteemed producer which they released the trailer to this week. In it, David is interviewed in a rather candid manner and reflects fondly upon his career and all he has accomplished while cementing himself in Hollywood history in his notoriously humorous nature that is poised to lend even more humor to all of the stories he has. The trailer can be seen below, and The Larry David Story can be seen on HBO Max on March 10th.
If there is anyone who could see the humor in a documentary about themselves airing on a streaming service, it’s certainly Larry David. The legendary writer and producer is notorious for his sense of humor as it helped him create some of the most timeless television series to ever exist and entertain fans for decades on end, with no end in sight at the current moment. Fans of either of his classic series and HBO Max subscribers can catch the new documentary exploring his incredible career The Larry David Story in a few short weeks.
