Over the past decade or so, the superhero genre of television and film in Hollywood has seen a major overhaul. With Marvel’s The Avengers franchise shattering virtually every box office record known to man, the resurgence of superhero projects is nothing short of a modern day renaissance. As a result, everybody is trying to cash in from other comic book veterans such as DC Comics to television networks such as FOX and so many others. As one of the preeminent production companies in the world, HBO of course has some plans to get in on the fun and they are doing so with the trailer for their latest project and upcoming HBO Max series Peacemaker with former WWE superstar John Cena starring in the titular role as a an atypical superhero.
Kicking off his career in the WWE in the early 2000’s, John Cena has made quite the name for himself in the entertainment industry. From wrestling to acting and everything in between, Cena has always been eager to take challenges head on and try new things. He will certainly be doing that with HBO in Peacemaker where he is set to star in the titular role as a superhero for the first time in his career, and in intriguing fashion to say the least. In the trailer seen below, it is obvious that Peacemaker is going to be as fun as it is daring with Cena flanked by the likes of Danielle Brooks, Freddie Storma and Jennifer Holland on what should be a hilarious, action-packed adventure. Peacemaker has been ordered for eight episodes and is expected on HBO Max early next year on January 13th.
Now more than ever before, new content is in high demand. With viewers stuck at home for the better part of two years, media services have been hard at work to meet their demands during this strenuous time. HBO has done an excellent job thus far, and they seemingly continue to do so one project after another. We’ll have to find out for ourselves when Peacemaker premieres on January 13th.
