During an interview with IGN, Knuckles star Idris Elba reacted to Keanu Reeves’ involvement in Sonic the Hedgehog 3. The John Wick star will voice act as Shadow, Sonic’s antagonist (created by the government) and occasional friend. Elba plays the main character, Knuckles, in Paramount+’s upcoming series, which carries the same name.
After revealing that he’s a big Keanu Reeves fan, Idris Elba stated mid-interview, “I’ve heard that he’s a fan of mine, and we are destined to make something together. So, here we go.” Elba and Reeves both have voice-acting credits in Cyberpunk 2077.
In the second Sonic the Hedgehog film, a wholly muted Shadow appeared in the credit scene. Shadow resembles Sonic and his powers but is black with a red stripe.
Knuckles will debut on Paramount+ on April 26, 2024. The series follows Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and is a prequel to Sonic the Hedgehog 3. It focuses on the aforementioned character as he trains with Wade, acted by Adam Pally, to learn how to become an Echidna warrior. Knuckles also stars Stockard Channing, Edi Patterson, Scott Mescudi, Ellie Taylor, Julian Barratt, Rory McCann, Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd, Paul Scheer, and Rob Huebel.
Ben Schwartz, Tika Sumpter, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey will reprise their roles. Schwartz plays Sonic, while Sumpter and O’Shaughnessy portray Maddie and Tails.
