Disney’s next live-action movie is on the way! The Disney princess star, Halle Bailey, staring as Ariel in The Little Mermaid has confirmed the news. “And just like that..that’s a wrap,” she posted with a first look picture of the upcoming film. Bailey was first casted as Ariel back in the summer of 2019. The film was set to start production in 2020, but as with most recent films, was postponed due to Covid-19.
“We have finally made it… i feel so grateful to have experienced this film in all of its glory,” she continued in the post. Bailey will be starring in the live action film along with Jonah Hauer-King, Javier Bardem, Melissa McCarthy, Daveed Diggs, Jacob Tremblay and Awkwafina. The film is being directed by Rob Marshall and produced by John DeLuca, Marc Platt and Lin-Manuel Miranda.
This will be Disney’s fifth live-action remake in the princess category. The Little Mermaid comes after the remake of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and Mulan. So, are you ready to go under the sea? The beautiful first look picture that Bailey posted shows a glimpse of what lies ahead. The majestic picture shows her as the mermaid in the water as the sun is setting in the beautiful Sardinia. It gives off amazing mermaid vibes!
I know fans are excited to hear this news. Bailey posted an extended caption on her Instagram concluding the post with, “I cannot wait for time to speed up so you all can watch this film because it was made with so much love (plus blood sweat and tears) lol thank you sardinia for a wonderful ending!!!”
