Warner Bros are keeping the court alive by continuing the decades old Space Jam sequel with stars that will pump it up!
The Tune Squad recruits MVP Lebron James, Portland Trailblazers’ Damian Lillard, New Orleans Pelicans’ Anthony Davis, and Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson to battle creatures on the court in an intergalatic arena.
According to Coming Soon,
Space Jam 2 will star LeBron James instead of Michael Jordan with Black Panther director Ryan Coogler onboard to produce. Terence Nance (Random Acts of Flyness, The Oversimplification of Her Beauty) is set to direct instead of Justin Lin (Fast & Furious franchise), who was one of the directors originally attached to the project.
The original Space Jam movie is the highest grossing basketball movie to date, making $230 million worldwide its first year out in 1996. The animated live-action idea for the film sparked after a popular Nike ad in 1993 that showed Michael playing basketball against Martin The Martial.
After 22 years this movie still remains a classic. We can’t wait to see what this Space Jam brings to the toon gym, in reference to both skill and creatures – as the entities for this film is still unknown.
Space Jam 2 will arrive in theaters on July 16, 2021! Here’s an interview with Bugz Bunny to bring us back to that 1990-2000’s fun
