Renowned actor, producer, screenwriter, and comedian Marlon Wayans is starring in the Jordan Peele-produced movie Him. Wayans plays an all-time, legendary quarterback football player who helps an aspiring athlete, played by Tyriq Withers, hone his skills by training him. The film was previously called GOAT, but the name recently switched to HIM, The Hollywood Reporter revealed earlier today.
Monkeypaw Productions will have producing creds for HIM. Justin Tipping, on the other hand, is overseeing the directing. The script is written by Zack Akers and Skip Bronkie. The movie also stars Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, and Jim Jefferies. Rappers Guapdad 4000 and Tierra Whack will be making their feature film debut.
HIM is about a hungry, young football player that gets a chance to train at the isolated compound of a dynasty team’s aging QB1. According to a statement made by Universal Pictures, the movie will explore a “blood-chilling journey into the inner sanctum of fame, power, and the pursuit of excellence at any cost.”
Marlon Wayans is known for his unforgettable and dynamic roles in Requiem for a Dream, Scary Movie, White Chicks, and Air, to name a few. He also has several writing credits on comedies, including Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood. Last year, Wayans released his very own stand-up special, Marlon Wayans: God Loves Me on Max. That same month, he guest-hosted on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show for a week.
