Reviving the R&B scene with a 2000’s-esque musical styling and a euphonic register, Mashich strives to bring together soul and emotions. At the forefront of his lyrics, the Philly musician remains open as he speaks about former experiences in life. Moreover, the songs tell stories about loving your hardest, appreciating those around you, and taking the good with the bad.
His latest single, “Special Affair,” debuted on February 27th, 2021. The upbeat R&B meets pop ballad finds the singer using a velvety register to express an intimate night between the two.
He further iterates that he wants his soon-to-be-wifey for life. She’s the only one he wants to tend to. Additionally, Mashich expresses the sparks that fly every time they link up. His primary focus is to do right by her. He sings in the chorus, “When we ridin’, we ridin’ to die.”
Elsewhere, Mashich says he’s willing to do anything as long as she’s by his side. He also respects how she understands that a relationship is meant to be between two people, not the whole world.
“No time for paparazzi/And when we move, yeah/We always move in silence/Party for two, yeah/You know I’m so excited.”
Afterward, he expresses to his boo how he’s going to wine and dine with her. He concludes that he intends to “love her right.” This night is meant to show his appreciation toward his Mrs. He then explains how he’s going to set the mood.
The song also features Dejah B, who speaks from the female perspective. In a Rihanna-like vocality, she lists the ways she’d thank her man for treating her well. Seemingly, the feeling is mutual, and for the night, she aims to please.
“Don’t be shy with me/No tell me what you like,” she sings.
Secondly, she lets out, “You know you can tell me what you wanna do/And I’ll do it all for you/And we can go somewhere in private/You ain’t gotta be invited/You know this fire you ignited/Baby you ain’t gotta fight it.”
“Special Affair” is produced by A.M.O. Productions. It’s also recorded, mixed, and mastered By Mike Jones Beatz.
Mashich was born and raised in “The Thoroughbred” city of Aiken, South Carolina, bordering Augusta, Georgia, where he was raised until 13-years-old. As a teenager, Mashich relocated to North Philadelphia, where he lived with his father for a year, at which point he moved to Southwest Philadelphia, where he currently resides.
As a child in South Carolina, Mashich was heavily influenced by the music his mother listened to. The list includes artists like Jill Scott, Erykah Badu, Anthony Hamilton, and other neo-soul singers. At 6-years-old, he tapped into his voice while singing along to the melodies his mother played in their home.
Upon relocating to “The City of Brotherly Love” as a young teenager in 2010, Mashich was recruited by the ThuroBredz Clique to sing choruses for the group’s hip‐hop tracks. The Wu‐Tang Affiliated rap group was a thirteen‐man ensemble comprised of Mashich’s father, the man’s brothers, and cousins, active on the underground music scene from around 2005 until 2015. The group was led by artist and businessman D.C. Da Beast. T.B.C. was first officially introduced to the music scene when the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s cousin, Lord Buddha Monk, heard T.B.C.’s second project and arranged for the group to meet with Judah Priest of Wu‐Tang Affiliated Zu Bullies/Brooklyn Zu.
Unfortunately, the group went their separate ways after one of its members, Mashich’s Uncle Mizz, passed away, and the other group members eventually steered their focus towards personal pursuits.
After T.B.C. discontinued recording together, Mashich reconnected with D.C. Da Beast, who had founded an independent record label, Fa Sho Fire Entertainment. D.C. Da Beast had always been impressed with the young man’s gift and marketability, seeing him as the total package and signing him to an artist management deal shortly after.
Mashich’s silky voice, ethereal delivery, commanding presence, lyrical content, and clean‐cut appearance have attracted a diehard fanbase and notoriety in the underground music scene. All things considered, he’s destined to impact the neo-soul industry for life.
