Since the turn of the century, television has seen something akin to a modern day renaissance. Series such as The Sopranos and Breaking Bad helped pave the way for where we are today as new television series are constantly taking unprecedented risks for the pleasure of their viewers. The birth of streaming only catalyzed this evolution tremendously as more new series than ever before are being debuted on what feels like a daily basis, with one series standing out in particular. For several years now, Black Mirror has been pushing the boundaries of what makes a television series special and now we have the official details for the upcoming sixth season that is set to debut sooner than fans may expect.
Originally premiering on Netflix in 2011, Black Mirror is an anthology series which explores some of the greatest “what if?” questions fans could possibly pose. From situations with immense political implications to futuristic parallel universes, few series if any have explored the possibilities of humanity quite like Black Mirror has. To back that up, Netflix has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming sixth season of Black Mirror, reposted below, and in it fans are met with the promise of “five new worlds” as they bounce around between select scenes from each episode spliced together in a way that seemingly creates more questions than answers. Fans will regardless be happy to see the myriad of new faces set to join the beloved series this season with Salma Hayek and Aaron Paul each set to star in episodes this upcoming season, amongst many other familiar faces. Fans aren’t going to have to wait long either with season six of Black Mirror set to premiere on Netflix in just over 2 weeks on June 15th, just in time for the start of summer.
Even when fans think Black Mirror has reached its limits, it’s producers essentially reinvent the wheel and find a new way to surprise its plethora of supporters. That certainly seems to be the case again this season with an abundance of star power that is sure to attract both new and longtime viewers of the critically acclaimed series and leave them enthralled with what the creative minds at its helm came up with for this season.
