Take for example the latest project that film fanatics have been blessed to receive the latest update on: this week Netflix released a teaser trailer for Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the sequel to the 2019 murder mystery film Knives Out that released just before the COVID-19 pandemic and left moviegoers foaming at the mouth to find out what was in store next for the project’s star-studded cast.
Knives Out was released in the final quarter of 2019 and resonated with audiences immediately, centering around the death of the patriarch of a wealthy family and employing a humorously unique perspective in solving the murder mystery which catapulted it to success. Drawing comparisons to the classic board game Clue, the star-studded project which featured the likes of Daniel Craig and Jamie Lee Curtis raked in over $300 million in box offices around the globe when it premiered and, in the process, virtually guaranteed that a sequel was imminent as fans clamored to find out what happens next in the absurdly funny yet enthralling plotline. The COVID-19 pandemic subsequently could not have taken place at a worse time however and forced the budding new franchise to remain patient in its desire to fulfill the demands of eager moviegoers who have been teeming with anticipation for the next installment, and it looks like said moviegoers are now being rewarded for the long wait. This week Netflix unveiled the first official teaser trailer for the forthcoming sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery and it certainly seems like fans are in for a treat, with a plethora of new faces that includes Edward Norton and Leslie Odom Jr. set to star in the latest chapter of the nail-biting franchise and thee promise of another mystery that is poised to have moviegoers on the edge of their seats once again in joining the wild ride that director Rian Johnson and company have crafted for them. Though sparse on details, the dramatic music coupled with the short clips that Netflix has included in the teaser are sure to have fans counting down the days until Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery premieres on Netflix on December 23rd.
While the hype for Knives Out was relatively tame when the project was getting ready to premiere back in 2019, the same cannot be said this time around.
