Deadpool & Wolverine stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman are reuniting with director Shawn Levy for a new non-Marvel movie. Coming Soon reports that Reynolds discussed the film during his Variety’s Awards Circuit Podcast interview. Although he didn’t give out too many details, the actor revealed that he’s been working on its script.
“I’m spending the year writing,” Reynolds said during the podcast. “I’m writing a movie for myself, Hugh [Jackman] and Shawn [Levy] to do that is not Marvel.”
Whether the movie will go forward or not remains a mystery, but given the success of Deadpool & Wolverine, the chances of it hitting the big screen are pretty high.
Deadpool & Wolverine significantly impacted the box office, grossing nearly $1.32 billion worldwide. It currently stands as the 7th highest-grossing film in the MCU, following hits like The Avengers ($1.5 billion), Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.9 billion), Avengers: Infinity War ($2 billion), Black Panther ($1.3 billion), and Avengers: Endgame ($2.7 billion).
Directed by Shawn Levy from a screenplay he co-wrote with Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells, the superhero flick carried an impressive cast list. Aside from Reynolds and Jackman, the film stars Emma Corrin, Matthew Macfadyen, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and many more. Meanwhile, Paul Wernick, George Dewey, Simon Kinberg, and Jonathon Komack Martin are the movie’s executive producers.
Reynolds and Levy have previously worked together on movies like Free Guy and The Adam Project. As for Jackman and Reynolds, they’re alleged to be hosting the 2025 Oscars.
