There have been numerous references to the initial trailer released by Paramount for Sonic the Hedgehog, as a growing number of supporters are urging Universal and DreamWorks to revise the animation before the film’s release in 2026.
In a TikTok video shared by epicfamilyquests, a Donkey animatronic at Universal Orlando humorously comments to a pair of theme park visitors that he appears “rough” in the new teaser trailer.
He adds, “Donkey looks homeless,” emphasizing the importance of having final approval over the portrayal of characters in films.
Last week, the initial teaser trailer for Shrek 5 was unveiled, revealing that Zendaya will lend her voice to Shrek’s daughter, Felicia, in the upcoming film. However, the trailer quickly sparked controversy, as numerous fans took to social media to voice their dissatisfaction with the animation style of the sequel.
“The appearance of Donkey seems quite disheveled. This highlights the importance of having the final say over your film and movie rights” it continues.
Details about the plot of Shrek 5 are still being kept secret for now. Along with Zendaya, the movie’s voice cast will feature Mike Myers as Shrek, Eddie Murphy as Donkey, and Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona. It’s still uncertain whether the couple’s other children will make an appearance or, if they do, who will provide their voices.
The film is being directed by Walt Dohrn and Conrad Vernon, with Brad Ableson acting as a co-director. Gina Shay and Chris Meledandri, the CEO of Illumination, are producing the film.
