There has been scarce information regarding Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse since it was taken off the release calendar. Recent reports indicate that it won’t be making its debut in 2025 either.
According to Deadline, Sony has confirmed that there are “no plans” to release the highly anticipated sequel Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse next year, citing the studio’s commitment to giving the film “a lot of tender loving care” during development. The film was originally slated for a March 29, 2024 release but has since been delayed with no new date announced.
Amid rumors that Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse could be delayed until 2027 due to major changes in its creative direction, composer Daniel Pemberton weighed in on Twitter.
He wrote, “I generally prefer not to comment on these matters, but can you believe that sometimes the information circulating online might not be entirely reliable?”
Producer Chris Miller also addressed the speculation, reassuring fans with a clear statement: “Nothing has been scrapped. The reels are progressing well.”
Since then, there have been no further updates on the film’s release. A Spider-Man logo spotted in New York sparked fan excitement, with many speculating it might signal an announcement for Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, it was later revealed to be part of a promotional campaign for a new Sony television series.
This upcoming film is expected to continue the story from Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, which follows Shameik Moore’s character, Miles Morales, as he navigates the multiverse and encounters the Spider-Society. The plot thickens when he finds himself trapped on the alternate Earth-42, where he meets a version of himself who has become the menacing Prowler.
The conclusion of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse left viewers with an exciting twist: Spider-Gwen (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld) takes charge of reuniting her former team. She enlists the help of familiar allies, including the quirky Spider-Ham and the brooding Spider-Noir (voiced by Nicolas Cage), as they embark on a mission to rescue Miles Morales.
