According to The Hollywood Reporter, Star Wars has a director lined up for its 2022 movie. Reportedly, the new director will be announced in January. And no, this project is not being directed by Rian Johnson (The Last Jedi). Before the saga ends, they’ll release its predecessor, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker on December 20th.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker cast members include Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Kelly Marie Tran, Joonas Suotamo and Billie Lourd. The movie will also include new cast members such as Naomi Ackie (Doctor Who), Richard E. Grant (Logan), Dominic Monaghan (Lord of the Rings), and Keri Russell (The Americans), who will also be joined by Star Wars actors Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels and Billy Dee Williams, who will play his original role as Lando Calrissian.
The role of Leia Organa will once again be played by Carrie Fisher. The franchise plans on doing so by using unreleased footage shot from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
