Hollywood Reporter recently unveiled that the 2013 video game, Last Of Us, will have a series adaptation, starting sometime in 2020 or 2021. PlayStation Productions has called on HBO and Sony Pictures television so that they can put things into full effect. Last of Us will be Playstation’s first television series. Chernobyl’s creator, Craig Muzin, and video game writer, Neil Druckmann, are said to be penning the script.
“This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for us to partner with Craig, Neil, Carolyn and the teams at Sony, Naughty Dog and PlayStation to bring the virtual world of this acclaimed game to life,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys said in a recent statement.
“From the first time I sat down to talk with Craig, I was equally blown away by his approach to narrative and his love and deep understanding of The Last of Us,” Druckmann said. “With Chernobyl, Craig and HBO created a tense, harrowing, emotional masterpiece. I couldn’t think of better partners to bring the story of The Last of Us to life as a television show.”
The Last Of Us series explores the events of the first game. If video game lovers are lucky, Last Of Us will have additional content that’s based on the video game’s sequel.
The Last Of Us II will hit shelves on May 29th, 2020. Watch the trailer below:
