The cast of the upcoming The Office spinoff is continuing to expand. According to TheWrap, the series has added Alex Edelman, Gbemisola Ikumelo, and Tim Key to its cast list, with Eric Rahill joining as a co-star. The untitled series features Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impaccitore in the lead roles.
In addition to acting, Ikumelo, Edelman, and Rahill are also writers for the series. Edelman recently won an Emmy for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for his HBO comedy special. Meanwhile, Ikumelo received a BAFTA Award for Female Performance in a Comedy Programme for her work in Black Ops.
The newly announced cast members will join Melvin Gregg, Chelsea Frei, and Ramona Young. The Palisadian-Post, located in Pacific Palisades, California, uniquely revealed this trio, as the cast members had been taking notes on the paper’s reporters in preparation for the series.
The new version of The Office is set at the exact location as NBC’s original series: Dunder Mifflin. The logline states, “The documentary crew that immortalized Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton branch is searching for a new subject when they discover a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters.”
Peacock acquired rights to the untitled The Office show this May. It’s created by Greg Daniels and Michael Koman, the former of whom developed the original NBC The Office. Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, the creators behind the U.K. version of the series, serve as executive producers.
