You may have heard of Beyonce, Chris Brown, and DJ Khaled, now get ready to remember the name, Nija Charles. She’s an iconic singer/songwriter and a childhood friend of mine. It’s so inspiring to see a friend rise to such stardom so quickly. I still remember playing with Nija in Union, NJ, on the street we grew up on. Now she’s taking over the world.
Nija Charles graduated from Union High School in 2015, then went to NYU to continue her music education. There she found her current manager Christian McCurdy. Just two years later, In 2017, she was signed to Universal Music Publishing Group as a songwriter and producer. Since then, she has helped write primary songs and worked with big names like Beyonce, Jay-z, and Lady Gaga. Rolling Stone and BET put her on lists of future artists making big waves in the ocean of music.
Currently, Nija is still a songwriter but has her music out. Her first single was “Easy My Mind,” a significant bop. Now she has an album titled “Don’t Say I Didn’t Warn You” that dropped in 2022. She has been nominated for a few Grammys this year for her work with Beyonce. Before I end this article, I want to say how proud I am of her. Nija has always seemed like a hard-working goal-driven person with a ton of creativity. So, it wasn’t a big shock to me to see her skyrocket to fame. I’ll say it once again. Remember her name NIJA CHARLES.
