The Weeknd’s new album is just days away from its release. He has been stirring anticipation for his sixth studio album, titled Hurry Up Tomorrow with intriguing hints on social media.
On Saturday, he posted a mysterious update on X (formerly known as Twitter), featuring a side-by-side comparison of an old photo from his earlier days in the industry and a more recent image of him wearing a hood that hides his face. He captioned the pair of photos with the enigmatic phrase, “It’s the way it has to be,” adding to the buzz surrounding his upcoming project.
The Weeknd has been hinting at his upcoming album for quite a while now. Not long after he dropped his 2022 project, “Dawn FM,” he disclosed that this new album is set to be part of a trilogy. In a post on X back then,
he intriguingly asked,
“I wonder… did you know you’re experiencing a new trilogy?”
With the release date of January 31, 2025, just around the corner, The Weeknd has ramped up his promotional activities. This past Friday, he released a trailer that nostalgically revisits the different phases of his artistic journey leading up to this moment.
When the album will be announced ✨
Moreover, The Weeknd has suggested that “Hurry Up Tomorrow” may mark the end of his journey under that moniker. He expressed,
“The [upcoming] album is likely my final farewell as the Weeknd. It’s something I need to do. I feel like I’ve said everything I had to say as the Weeknd. I’ll continue to create music, perhaps as Abel or maybe even as the Weeknd again. However, I want to move on from the Weeknd persona. And I will—eventually. My aim is to shed that identity and emerge anew,” he shared in an interview with W in May 2023.
Although “Hurry Up Tomorrow” is now slated for release on January 31st, Abel had initially planned to launch the album on January 25th, coinciding with a special one-night performance at the Rose Bowl Stadium. However, he had to cancel these arrangements due to the devastating wildfires impacting Los Angeles.
