Fans worldwide should keep their ears open, because R&B sensation, Usher plans on releasing a new project titled Confessions Part III, a continuation from 2004’s Confessions, which sold over 1 million copies in its first week of release and earned a Diamond by the RIAA. On Monday (February 24), Usher decided to sing a song off his soon-to-come album during his Live from the Cricket Lounge appearance. But people on and offline were quick to presume that this tune, in particular, is more than the average bedroom or love ballad.
Between the lines of this anonymous track, he admits to battling some sort of sickness, “Remember that time I was sitting up sick, couldn’t sleep in the middle of the night? / You said bae let me take you to the ER, I said, ‘Nah, Imma be alright / Well the next day I found out from f*cking around that the sickness I had was life/And I was fixed with the decision to keep it, knowing I had to get rid of it, live with it.” And while he doesn’t come right out with what the sickness could be, it doesn’t take much for listeners to put two and two together. Years ago, women were filing lawsuits against the singer for giving them a venereal disease. He never came forward to address the allegations, but court documents reportedly show that Usher paid a $1 million settlement to one of his accusers. For now, we’re all left in the dark.
After he finished singing, Usher talked directly to the audience. “You realize what I just told you?” he asked with a smirk. “You don’t realize it, huh? Well, you can play it back.”
