HBO Max’s animated series, Velma, will star Glenn Howerton, Sam Richardson, and Constance Wu. As per The Hollywood Reporter, the actors will play Fred (Howerton), Shaggy (Richardson), and Daphne (Wu).
Mindy Kaling will be playing Velma. These actors will be joined by Jane Lynch, Wanda Sykes, Russell Peters, Melissa Fumero, Stephen Root, Gary Cole, Ken Leung, Cherry Jones, Frank Welker, “Weird Al” Yankovic, Fortune Feimster, Yvonne Orji, Sarayu Blue, Nicole Byer, Ming-Na Wen, Shay Mitchell, Debby Ryan, Kulap Vilaysak, and NBA player, Karl-Anthony Towns.
The show doesn’t have a current release date but was announced in 2021. The synopsis reads:
“Velma is an adult animated comedy series telling the origin story of Velma Dinkley, the unsung and underappreciated brains of the Scooby-Doo Mystery Inc. gang.
An original and humorous spin that unmasks the complex and colorful past of one of America’s most beloved mystery solvers.”
Velma also told the world about her sexual preference yesterday in the trailer for HBO Max’s upcoming Scooby-Doo Halloween movie. Once clips from their Trick or Treat Scooby-Doo! special was dropped, viewers caught a glimpse of Velma telling Daphne that she’s “crushing big time” on a female character named Coco Diablo.
