Earlier this week, Young Money announced that Nicki Minaj has been crowned with the highest net worth for a female rapper. The Queen of Rap truly sits pretty in her throne as she amasses $100M, surpassing legends such as Queen Latifah ($60 million) and Missy Elliot ($50 million).
The record label took to Twitter to share the news by posting up a picture of Nicki with the hashtag #QueenTingz to emphasize on her most recent accomplishment. Minaj has yet to respond to the congratulatory tweet.
Breaking records is nothing new to Nicki Minaj though. Since her debut on the 2009 Billboard charts with “I Get Crazy” featuring Lil Wayne, she continued running them up in 2010 where she set the bar for having 7 Hot 100 singles within the year alone. “Your Love” also became the first single by a female rap artist to sit at the number one Billboard Rap Chart slot, knocking off 50 Cent’s “Magic Stick” featuring Lil Kim, which was released in June 2003.
Let’s not forget Onika boasted “I got more slaps than Aretha [Franklin]” when she released “Barbie Goin’ Bad.” Within the verse, the Queen of Rap reminded everyone that she surpassed the Queen of Soul’s record in 2017, who had 73 singles for approximately 40 years. Minaj is currently sitting at the top spot for having the most Billboard Hot 100 hits by a female artist.
Nicki stamped another footprint in history as she became the first female rapper to sell over 100 million records. Back in September 2019, she sent the Barbz into panic mode as she tweeted that she would be retiring from the Hip Hop game. She mentioned that she wanted to settle down and start her family. Minaj pretty much said “I’m just playin’ but I’m sayin'” after she deleted the post. False alarm, breathe Barbz. Her most recent single “Yikes” released in February 20202 confirmed that she wasn’t going anywhere any time soon.
