Arnold Schwarzenegger began his illustrious career as a mere teenager, going on to win the title of Mr. Universe at the ripe age of 20 years old as arguably the best bodybuilder on Earth. His career as a bodybuilder helped facilitate his career in film which would begin in 1984 when he starred in the legendary action movie The Terminator, utilizing his hulking appearance to play a robot assassin who gets sent back in time to complete a mission that could change the future drastically. As his acting career calmed down around the turn of the century, the Austrian-born actor shifted his sights towards politics and successfully ran for Governor of California in 2003, holding the position for 8 years until 2011. Since then he has made his return to the big screen and has starred in The Expendables franchise as well as rebooting his role for the Terminator franchise, albeit in starkly different fashion. Despite all this and everything else he has accomplished in his lengthy career Scwarzenegger is seemingly showing no signs of slowing down: the actor has come to terms with Netflix on a new project that he has also agreed to star in and is sure to excite his fans.
Despite his extensive resume on the big screen, Schwarzenegger has never tried his hand at scripted television since his career began in the 1980’s. In typical Scwarzenegger fashion he has elected to work with the biggest streaming platform in Netflix to make the leap, which has ordered an eight-episode run of a spy series being produced by Skydance TV and starring the legendary actor. More specifically, the show will feature a father-daughter duo that works for the CIA, Schwarzenegger will be joined by Monica Barbaro of Top Gun: Maverick fame, who are forced to work together despite their relationship. This will seemingly be a substantial departure from the work Scwarzenegger is used to, however he seemingly has full trust in Skydance who produced 2015’s Terminator Genisys and 2019’s Terminator: Dark Fate. Other details surrounding the project remain sparse, with the current working title of “the untitled Arnold Schwarzenegger project.”
Despite this being his first attempt at scripted television, the former Mr. Universe has certainly faced much more difficult challenges. This will seemingly be just another day at work for the esteemed actor whose first film grossed over $70 million on a budget less than one tenth of that. He has certainly set himself up well, uniting forces with Netflix and the talented team at the heart of the upcoming project to virtually ensure success so long as everyone brings their best to the table. Fans will just have to wait and see and in the meantime can wait for further updates on “the untitled Arnold Schwarzenegger project.”
