Few actors in Hollywood history have achieved the level of success that Brad Pitt has. Kicking off his career nearly four decades ago in 1987 on the television show Dallas, the actor has built an impressive resume that includes timeless films such as Quentin Tarantino’s Fight Club and the cerebral thriller Se7en. To this day he continues to be one of the hardest working men in Hollywood, having nearly as many credits as a producer as he does as an actor per his IMDB page that includes several unreleased projects. The COVID-19 pandemic seemingly forced him to take some much deserved time off with his last film being 2019’s Ad Astra, however as theaters begin to reopen he is ready to return to work: his new film Bullet Train, a story about hitmen in Tokyo, is officially set to release next spring.
Based upon the Japanese novel Maria Beetle written by Kotaro Isaka in 2010, the title Bullet Train is a little more literal than you might expect. The story follows five hitmen who board an actual bullet train in Tokyo, crossing paths once aboard the train and quickly creating tension amongst them. Confining five hit men in one space certainly sounds interesting, and mixing in such a bizarre setting certainly adds fuel to the fire; mix in an actor like Brad Pitt as well and it’s virtually a must see. Pitt will star alongside Brian Tyree Johnson, Michael Shannon and Aaron-Taylor Johnson with David Leitch set to man the director’s chair and is set to release on April 8th, 2022.
Pitt is certainly no stranger to playing a hitman, starring alongside Angelina Jolie in the 2005 film Mr. and Mrs. Smith about a husband and wife who are both assassins. He received high praise for his work on that film, so it will be interesting to see if he can recreate the same energy once more. Eager fans will just have to wait and see next April once Bullet Train hits the big screen.
