The true crime genre has only grown bigger and bigger as the years have passed. Bolstered by a fascination of the American underworld amongst consumers, some of history’s biggest crimes and most notorious criminals have had their stories told through television series and films for decades now. Fictional series like The Sopranos and Breaking Bad only further feed into this fascination of what goes on behind-the-curtain that keeps America looking pristine, driving demand for more products that explores these topics further and further. When there is money to be made, those responsible will do everything they can to meet the demands of consumers and subsequently, the true crime genre remains amongst the most popular in American culture. Now Netflix has a new true crime series coming out this July in Heist, set to detail some of the biggest and most lucrative heists in the country’s history.
Plenty of films and television shows have been made at this point specifically about large-scale heist operations. Netflix even has a series based upon the concept already, with Money Heist set to enter its fifth season. Thus they are no strangers to the genre, and Heist seems like it could be something interesting. The upcoming series is set to detail some of the greatest heists in American history, using two episodes to tell the full and unedited story of each heist. Only six episodes have been ordered to start though, so Netflix will be sure to include some interesting stories ranging from robbing a casino to alcohol-smuggling. For more on those stories, you will have to wait until Heist hits Netflix on July 14th.
As always, Netflix remains on the forefront of original content time and time again. No matter the topic or genre, Netflix is always seemingly first in line with something new to provide its consumers for their pleasure and the company’s bottom line. This new project will certainly do just that and provide true crime junkies with a taste of their favorite medicine. July 14th is under a month away, so start counting down the days until Heist hits Netflix.
