Playwright actor Jordan E. Cooper has officially joined the star-studded cast of Freaky Friday 2. According to Coming Soon, the actor will play a character named Jett.
Jordan is known for his work in plays like Ain’t No Mo, The Ms. Pat Show, and much more. Not to mention, he has a list of accolades, including garnering six Tony nominations, being on Forbes‘ 30 Under 30 list, and being the youngest African American playwright in Broadway history.
Besides working alongside Lindsay Lohan as Anna Coleman and Jamie Lee Curtis as Tess Coleman, Jordan also gets the opportunity to act alongside actors from the original film, like Mark Harmon as Ryan, Chad Michael Murray as Jake, Christina Vidal Mitchell as Maddie, Haley Hudson as Peg, Rosalind Chao as Pei-Pei, Lucille Song as Pei-Pei’s mom, and Stephen Tobolowsky. Jordan won’t be the first actor to join the Freaky Friday franchise either. Manny Jacinto, Sophia Hammons, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Julia Butters are entering the Freaky Friday realm for the first time.
Jordan’s involvement in Freaky Friday 2 follows Lindsay Lohan’s latest reveal about the upcoming film. In an interview with Good Morning America, the actress expressed that she’s taking guitar lessons for her role, indicating that the band Pink Slip may return. In the 2003 movie, Lindsay Lohan plays a rebellious teen who aspires to become a musician. The original Freaky Friday focused on a mother-daughter body swap after the two bumped heads often.
Freaky Friday 2 is said to continue the tale about a daughter and mother who switch bodies. This time, however, the duo returns in a new and mature way. According to The Hollywood Reporter, bring a multigenerational approach to the story.” In the new movie, Anna Coleman has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. “As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice,” the logline reads.
