Exclusive photos of Sonic the Hedgehog 4 have reportedly surfaced online, and they reveal two important characters in the Sonic-verse: Metal Sonic and Amy Rose.
The characters were originally teased during the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, and they appear to be playing an important role in the upcoming sequel. The new images also show Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Shadow, who all look similar to how they did in the previous movie. You can see the flicks here.
At first, some fans questioned whether the leaked images were A.I. However, Paramount Pictures has reportedly begun sending copyright takedown notices to social media accounts that shared them, suggesting the images may be real. It’s unknown whether the leaks will convince Paramount to release an official first look of the cast.

Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is now less than a year away from hitting theaters, so an official preview could arrive sooner than expected.
The Sonic movie franchise has been a major success for Paramount. The first Sonic the Hedgehog movie, released in 2020, earned $319 million worldwide. The film faced criticism at first because fans strongly disliked Sonic’s original design. Instead of pushing forward, Paramount delayed the movie so the character could be redesigned to look more like his video game version.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 followed in 2022 and made $405 million worldwide. Sonic the Hedgehog 3 then earned $492 million globally in 2024.
In a previous interview, director Jeff Fowler explained that Metal Sonic and Amy Rose will have major roles in the new movie.
“I mean, in every bit the same way that I think in Sonic 2, when you see Shadow come up in the Cryotube, you know that he’s going to be a big deal and we’re going to make that the focus of the next story, so absolutely.”
“We’re putting them in there for a reason, and we’re not doing it just to have an end credit teaser because we know fans love to see it,” he added. “We’re putting it in there because we’re really excited about working with those characters.”
As far as the cast goes, Ben Kingsley, Nick Offerman, Richard Ayoade, and Matt Berry joined the film. Meanwhile, Ben Schwartz, Jim Carrey, Idris Elba, Keanu Reeves, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Colleen O’Shaughnessey, and Lee Majdoub will reprise their respective roles.
Paramount also confirmed that Kristen Bell will voice Amy Rose in the fourth movie shortly after production began. The roles for Kingsley, Offerman, Ayoade, and Berry remain a mystery.
