While they were originally established to compete with movie rental services like Blockbuster, the role of streaming platforms has changed dramatically since their inception. Though they originally relied upon pre-existing content that the entertainment industry revolves around, platforms like Netflix and Hulu have begun producing original content in hordes in recent years. The COVID-19 pandemic catalyzed this process exponentially, with viewers forced to quarantine and rely upon these platforms and the content they produce for entertainment. Now Amazon has released the trailer for a new project that is certain to turn heads in the erotic thriller The Voyeurs.
The Voyeurs follows the story of a young couple who move into a high-end loft and begin spending their lives together, kicking off their first night in their new home with a celebratory dinner. During their celebration however, they notice that from their new loft they can get a clear view into the living space of one of their neighbors. While this is likely to pique any human’s curiosity naturally, the couple at the heart of The Voyeurs get themselves too invested in their peeping habits and things take a turn for the worse rather quickly. Said couple is set to be played by Justice Smith and Sydney Sweeney, and the project itself is written and directed by Michael Mohan who also created the Netflix original series Everything Sucks!. The Voyeurs is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video on September 10th.
While The Voyeurs might sound a bit outlandish, the trailer should be more than enough to catch anyone’s eye. What begins as a charming situation becomes tense very quickly, with Sweeney and Smith forced to fight for the integrity of their relationship as a result. The trailer even ends off on an interesting cliffhanger as well that only further contributes to that tension and the intrigue behind the upcoming film. Interested viewers can anticipate the debut of The Voyeurs on Amazon Prime Video next month.
