According to Deadline, DC Universe’s Stargirl will be making its debut on The CW.
This series will be the first time that a DC Universe series will be airing on television.
Reportedly, actress, Brec Bassinger will star as Stargirl. Other actors who will star in the series as well are: Amy Smart (The Butterfly Effect), Trae Romano (Robbie), Anjelika Washington (Shameless, Young Sheldon), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), Joel McHale (Community) as Starman, Lou Ferrigno Jr. (S.W.A.T.) as Rex Tyler/Hourman, Brian Stapf as Wildcat, Luke Wilson (Charlie’s Angels), as Pat Dugan, Henry Thomas as Dr. Mid-Nite, Joy Osmanski (The Santa Clarita Diet) as Tigress, Neil Hopkins (Matador) as Sportsmaster, and Nelson Lee (Mulan) as Dragon King.
Business Insider adds that Bassinger will make her first appearance as the superhero in The CW’s Arrowverse crossover event, Crisis on Infinite Earths which is set to release on December 8th. This crossover will explain how “she fits into the bigger DC live-action universe.”
Stargirl will follow the story of high school student, Courtney Whitmore (Bassinger). Her seemingly perfect life takes its turn when her mother gets married. Because of this, Bassinger and her family moves from Los Angeles, California to Blue Valley, Nebraska. As a result, Bassinger finds it hard to adapt in a new school, make new friends and deal with a new step-family. Soon after, Courtney discovers her step-father has a secret: he used to be the sidekick to a superhero. With a little assistance from his old crew, Courtney anonymously becomes inspirational for the new generation of superheroes.
Stargirl will make its debut during the second quarter of 2020. Each episode of the series will be on The CW the day after it premieres on DC Universe.
