Ellie Goulding performed at the the Dallas Cowboys‘ Thanksgiving halftime show yesterday, and she certainly seems to have left an impression on viewers. Her performance was nothing less than fantastic, but fans had a thing or two to say, mostly about the singer’s headgear. The black and white ensemble with a hat that social media comments declared resembled a “lampshade” that took away from her vocals. The white hat seemed to be modeled in a cowboy style, and had an edge rimmed with what appeared to be diamonds or rhinestones in a dripping fashion, covering her eyes.
Two weeks ago, the 32-year-old “Love Me Like You Do” singer threatened to pull out of the show during the game that annually kicks off the Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign to help the homeless over concerns the organization may be anti-LGBTQ.
“Upon researching this, I have reached out to The Salvation Army and said that I would have no choice but to pull out unless they very quickly make a solid, committed pledge or donation to the LGBTQ community,” she wrote according to Pop Culture. “I am a committed philanthropist as you probably know, and my heart has always been in helping the homeless, but supporting an anti-LGBTQ charity is clearly not something I would ever intentionally do. Thank you for drawing my attention to this.”
Goulding shared her outfit on Instagram with the caption, “Dallas, baby”
