Game of Thrones had the most epic battle yet in Episode 3 of the series’ new and final season. Battle of Winterfell was a “masterpiece of tension and release, goose bumps and heartbreak, grandiosity and intimacy.” According to the New York Times, the final clash had a mix of genres, shifting the chaos from fantasy, horror, action and melodrama. It was a bloody showdown as Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen’s armies took on the White Walkers and the notorious Night King.
This was a moment where many Game of Thrones fans were prepared for some of their favorite characters to die – But many were surprised to discover that there weren’t as many deaths of protagonists as they thought there would be. This battle scene was the longest cinematic battle sequence in history, which took eleven weeks of shooting at night to make this battle astonishing.
