The horror movie Goons has officially rounded out its cast with rapper YG, Empire actress Serayah, and P-Valley star J. Alphonse Nicholson. So far, the cast list also includes Tyler Lepley, Michael Rainey Jr., Chloe Bailey, and SteVonté Hart. The movie is helmed by The First Purge director Gerard McMurray. Colfuential Films’ very own Tommy Oliver serves as the movie’s producer. It’s co-written by McMurray and Hodge K. Johnson.
“YG, J. Alphonse, Serayah, SteVonté, and Tyler all bring their own unique flavor to this amazing recipe we are cooking up on Goons here in my hometown of New Orleans,” McMurray told The Hollywood Reporter. “I can’t wait for the world to see what we are putting together with this young, gifted cast.”
“I can’t wait for audiences to see what Gerard and I are cooking up with the kick-a*s squad we’ve assembled,” Oliver added. “I also couldn’t be more excited to kick off New Fear Unlocked with this film from such a talented director.”
Goons is currently in production in New Orleans. Other details about the movie are under wraps, but it takes place in Louisiana’s cane fields and plantations. McMurray describes the movie as “a love letter to my hometown of New Orleans and a deeply personal story for me.”
