Dancehall star Kranium is back with a brand new EP featuring a new approach to his sound. Just in time for Valentine’s Day weekend, his five-track EP Toxic, is sure to heat things up.
In 2013, the dancehall artist made waves with his sensual, and sonically pleasing track titled “Nobody Has To Know.” Eventually, the track became a smash hit selling over 39,000 copies in 2015, and the world had its first formal introduction to Kranium. Now, he reintroduced himself to the music scene with the success of his breezy single “Gal Policy,” where the singer/songwriter goes by Melody Gad, and for good reason. His melodic approach to Caribbean themes truly sets him apart from traditional lively, high-tempo’d tunes we are accustomed to. He brings out the sensuality of the Caribbean, followed by lyrical dexterity, and we are here for it!
“Toxic is a five-song body of work,” he shared in an interview. “The EP isn’t a traditional dancehall project. It’s more melodic. I leaned more into the rhythmic zone with this one — more into the ‘Melody Gad’ in me.”
Toxic comes after Kranium’s 2019 debut album Midnight Sparks, which featured Ty Dolla $ign, Burna Boy, Alkaline, Mahalia, AJ Tracey and PJ. It also follows his string of hit singles released since then, including “Can’t Believe” featuring Ty Dolla Sign and Wizkid, the “Risky” remix with Davido, and the “Gal Policy” remix featuring Tiwa Savage.
