From the creator of Euphoria, Sam Levinson is bringing The Idol to HBO. The drama series stars Lily-Rose Depp and Abel Tesfaye better known as The Weeknd.
The new teaser is hot and heavy, focusing on the music industry and how the theme for the past couple of years has been that sex sells. The official logline reads “set against the backdrop of the music industry, the series centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who developed a relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.”
The TV series also stars Golden Globe nominee Troye Sivan (Boy Erased), Hari Nef (Transparent), Debby Ryan (Insatiable), Steve Zissis (Togetherness), Rachel Sennott (Bodies Bodies Bodies), and K-Pop global sensation Jennie Kim of Blackpink, making her the first Korean idol to appear in an American series. Anne Heche, Melaine Liburd, Tunde Adebimpe, Elizabeth Berkley Lauren, Nico Hiraga, and more are among the additional cast.
