Mike Flanagan‘s upcoming Carrie TV adaptation is still in the works, and a familiar face from the Scream franchise may be joining the cast.
According to Deadline, Matthew Lillard, best known for his role in Scream and set to appear in Scream 7, is currently in talks to join Amazon MGM Studios’ new series.
Although Lillard’s potential role hasn’t been revealed, his involvement would mark a reunion with Flanagan, following his appearance in the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck. If he joins the cast, he’ll be joining Summer H. Howell as the main character, Carrie White. Meanwhile, Siena Agudong is reportedly being considered for the role of Sue Snell.

The series, based on Stephen King‘s debut novel, was officially greenlit in April and is still in early casting stages. Flanagan will serve as writer, executive producer, and director. The show is set to run for eight episodes. The new adaptation is described as “a bold and timely reimagining” of the story of Carrie White, a shy teen dealing with the loss of her father, a controlling mother, and the challenges of high school, all while discovering she has mysterious telekinetic abilities.
This marks the fifth adaptation of King’s Carrie, following the original 1976 film directed by Brian De Palma, The Rage: Carrie 2 (1999), the 2002 television version, and the 2013 remake starring Chloë Grace Moretz. A release date for the series has not yet been announced.
