After an extensive legal battle with 1501 Certified Entertainment in which a Texas judge granted the rapper a temporary restraining order against her label, Megan Thee Stallion comes back strong with the music video for her track “Captain Hook,” directed by the rapper herself.
In the video we see what may be interpreted as a day in the studio with Megan. The rapper is ardently penning lyrics on a notepad before she hits the vocal booth to spit some of the hard lyrics aloud. As the self-proclaimed “Hot Girl” that she is, Megan twerks, dances, and sips her iconic Dusse with a straw as the studio ultimately turns into a party. On the fast-talking contemporary girl boss anthem, Megan celebrates herself, singing, “I’m a hot girl, don’t try it at home/ I wear the sh*t that be showing my thong/ I like to drink and I like to have sex/ I f*ck the n*ggas thats cutting the checks.”
“Captain Hook” is the third track off the rapper’s new EP Suga, which dropped earlier this month. The nine-song EP is just a taste of the Houston rappers versatility as an artist, and a testimony to her tenacity as a business woman. The timing for this music video and EP couldn’t be any better as we now celebrate Women’s History Month, and we therefore celebrate Thee Stallions defiance as she breaks away from her former label. In a recent Instagram post she stated that: “I will stand up for myself and not allow two men to bully me, I am NO ONES PROPERTY,” and she has proven just that as she takes total creative control with this video.
